PROJECT DESCRIPTION

2 schools, KA Ekeren (Belgium) and Vittorio Fossombroni (Italy) work together on "La Grande Bouffe".

The main aim of La Grande Bouffe is to familiarize the learners of 2 secondary schools in Belgium and Italy with other cultures and the customs and culinary traditions inherent to these cultures.

Even thought the social and cultural background and age of the students are quite different, both schools share the same need to broaden the vision and world view of their students.

During 2 years, students of schools will work together - but from a distance - on some project outcomes. These outcomes will be used during the exchanges in order to facilitate the communication between the learners and as a starting point for the planned activities.

Main project outcomes will be:

  1. A point-dictionary in Dutch/Italian/English in which basic words related to daily communication and culinary practices will be explained.
  2. Calendar with images from important national cities and national holidays.
  3. Recipe booklet in English which will contain the main national dishes based on the cities visited.

Audiovisual tools such as video recordings will be an important asset within this project since it will allow students to exchange their thoughts on the activities and to experience the other partner country through the eyes of the students. So not only their intercultural communication skils will further develop, als their skills in working with audiovisual equipment will play a key role.
